Aurora Man Charged With Killing Man, 68, In Grove Street Home: SA

Isidro Nevarez​, 68, was struck multiple times in the head with a blunt object while in his home Oct. 13 or Oct. 14, officials said.

AURORA, IL — A 33-year-old Aurora man was charged with two counts of first-degree murder after police say he killed a 68-year-old in his Grove Street home, officials said.

Edgar Lara-Giron, of the 1000 block of Fourth Street, struck Isidro Nevarez multiple times in the head with a blunt object, killing him, officials at the Kane County State's Attorney's Office allege. Police believe the incident to have happened on Oct. 13 or Oct. 14.

Lara-Giron then stole Nevarez's pickup truck, as well as credit cards issued in his name, which he used at several locations, according to county officials. For this, the Aurora man was also charged with two counts of possession of a stolen vehicle and three counts of unlawful use of a credit card.

Aurora police responded to a residence in the 700 block of Grove Street at about 8:40 p.m. Oct. 14 when they found Nevarez suffering from fatal injuries and pronounced him dead at the scene, Patch reported.

Lara-Giron is currently being held at the Kane County jail in lieu of a $2 million bond, court records show. His next court date is scheduled for Nov. 3.
