Aurora Man Charged In Murder-For-Hire Plot: Police
Police say Andy Lopez, 23, used a social media to offer $1,000 in exchange for someone's murder.

AURORA, IL — An Aurora man is facing felony charges after he was accused of using a social media app to try to solicit someone for a murder-for-hire plot. Andy Lopez, 23, of the 600 block of Watson Street, has been charged with solicitation for murder for hire in connection with the incident.
According to police, Lopez went online on Jan. 22 and posted a request that someone "kill a specific person in exchange for $1,000."
Lopez is currently being held in Kane County Jail on $100,000 bond. If he is able to bond out, he will have to turn over any firearms or FOID cards and avoid contact with the alleged victim, police say.

Lopez is set to appear in court again on Jan. 30. If convicted, he faces up to 30 years in prison.
