AURORA, IL — An Aurora man faces multiple felony charges after he allegedly stole a cellphone at gunpoint from a woman on the front porch of her home Sunday before physically assaulting a police officer. Dwayne K. Smith, 27, has been charged with armed robbery, armed violence, aggravated robbery, theft, battery, possession of a firearm without a FOID card, resisting a police officer, and being an armed habitual criminal in connection with the incident.

According to Kane County State's Attorney's Office, Smith first spoke with the woman, whom he knew, on the phone, before becoming angry, and going to her house. Once there, Smith is accused of approaching the woman on her front porch with her friends and pointing a loaded gun at one of them.

Police say the woman began recording the incident on her cellphone, which prompted Smith to point the gun to her head and demand that she stop recording. He is then accused of pushing her down and fleeing with her phone.
