Aurora Man Convicted Of Hiding Cameras In Ex's Apartment
Police say Juan M. Ramos-Avila taped cellphones to the victims cars and stuck recording devices to her nightstand.

AURORA, IL — An Aurora man will serve nearly five years in prison after pleading guilty to spying on his ex-girlfriend using hidden cameras and a cellphone to track her behavior and movements. Juan M. Ramos-Avila, 26, was taken into custody in February 2018 and charged with unauthorized recording, eavesdropping, residential burglary, and more, Daily Herald reports.
The remaining charges were dropped after Ramos-Avila pleaded guilty to the residential burglary charge in May.
Police say that in February 2018, Ramos-Avila used a special key designed for lock-picking to enter the apartment around 10 a.m. wearing blue rubber gloves. The victim's boyfriend reportedly confronted Ramos-Avila a the door, striking him and detaining him until police arrived.

The victim told police she had previously found recording devices affixed to her nightstand and a hidden camera tucked behind window curtains.
Ramos-Avila had reportedly also hidden cellphones underneath cars that belonged to the woman and her partner.
