Aurora Man Gets 12 Years For Sexually Assaulting Woman: Cops

He will spend 12 years in prison after sexually assaulting a woman in a vacant townhome, police say.

AURORA, IL -- An Aurora man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a woman in 2013. Damien DIckens, 40, was arrested in 2016 after a warrant was issued because information in the Illinois DNA database tied him to the case, authorities say.

Dickens had met a woman on June 23, 2013, and brought her to a vacant townhome earlier that morning, according to DuPage County State's Attorney's Office. Dickens blocked the woman from leaving when she tried to exit the townhome and then sexually assaulted her, authorities say.

DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said of that the judge handing down a "twelve-year sentence sends the message that if you are convicted of sexual assault in DuPage County, you will find yourself behind bars for a very long time."
