Aurora Man Shoots Neighbor For 'Inappropriate Comments': Cops
Police say Abelardo Ramos shot his neighbor on St. Patrick's Day.

AURORA, IL — A 26-year-old Aurora man is charged with shooting his neighbor over inappropriate comments he said the neighbor made to his girlfriend. Abelardo Ramos, 26, was charged with aggravated battery with a firearm in connection with the incident, which took place Sunday night in the 100 block of Lincoln Avenue, according to Aurora Police Sergeant Bill Rowley.
Police say the Ramos's girlfriend told him the man made a "disparaging remark" about her, which led to Ramos pulling out an HK 9mm pistol. After the men began fighting, Ramos shot his neighbor twice in the leg, according to police
Rowley said the victim was treated at a nearby hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening.

Police say they submitted a Clear and Present Danger report to Illinois State Police to revoke gun privileges for Ramos, who has a valid FOID card and concealed carry permit.
Ramos is being held in the Kane County Jail awaiting a bond hearing.
