Aurora Man Shot At Car Driving On His Block: Police

Police allege Jose Herrera, 30, fired a shot toward a car driving in the 1400 block of Randall Court. No one was injured in the incident.

AURORA, IL — An Aurora man is facing multiple felony charges after he allegedly shot at a car driving down his block Monday night. Aurora police arrested Jose A Herrera, 30, near his home in the 1400 block of Randall Court shortly after shots were fired in the area, according to a news release. Aurora police say the shooting was “not random.”

Officers responded to reports of shots fired near Plum Street and Randall Road just after 8:45 p.m. Monday, April 13, the release states. Several people told police they were driving in the 1400 block of Randall Court, a cul-de-sac off of Randall Road near West Aurora High School, when a man walked into the street and shot at their vehicle, according to police.

After speaking to those who were in the car, officers identified Herrera as a potential suspect while he was outside a home in the same block, the release states. Aurora police say they seized a handgun thought to have been used in the shooting while taking Herrera into custody.

Herrera was charged in Kane County court Tuesday with aggravated discharge of a firearm at a person or vehicle and reckless discharge of a firearm, both felonies. He was released from Kane County Jail after posting bond, according to Kane County court records.
