Aurora Noon Lions To Plant Tree For Earth Day

Aurora Noon Lions Club will be planting a swamp white oak tree from the Fox Valley Park District's nursery.

AURORA, IL — To celebrate Earth Day, Aurora Noon Lions Club will host a tree planting on Thursday, a day ahead of the official holiday.

As part of the district's memorial tree program, members will be planting a swamp white oak tree from the Fox Valley Park District's nursery, according to a news release. Club president Arvid Meyer, of Aurora, will lead the event, which starts at 4 p.m. at Blackberry Farm, 100 Barnes Road.

After the tree planting, Lions will host a dinner meeting set to start at 5 p.m. at Luigi's Pizza, 732 Prairie St. in Aurora. Prospective members who are interested in community services are invited to attend.

The club, which focuses on hands-on service and humanitarian projects, is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. Members meet on the first and third Thursdays of the month at Luigi's Pizza.
