Aurora Police Launch Non-Emergency Reporting Platform Online
Locals can use the platform to report incidents such as car burglaries, identity theft, lost property, retail theft and minor car crashes.
AURORA, IL — Aurora residents can now report non-emergency crimes to police through their new online system.
The Aurora Police Department announced Monday it launched the Desk Officer Reporting System for locals to report non-emergency incidents and crashes without visiting police headquarters or having an officer dispatched to their house.
Incidents that can be reported through the program include car burglaries, identity theft, lost property, retail theft and minor car crashes.

The goal of the program, available in English and Spanish, is to enhance service to the community and better allocate resources and personnel, officials said.
"This will also allow officers to focus on in-progress calls for service, while also remaining available for any high priority incidents," officials wrote in a news release. "The Aurora Police Department remains committed to leveraging emerging technology to increase efficiency while providing the best service to the community."

To file a report, locals should go to the police department's website and click the link to "File a police report online." Residents can also call 833-426-0896; the caller will be asked to enter their phone number, and a link to access the reporting system will be sent via text.
