Aurora Police Reveal Results From St. Patrick's Day Enforcement
Roadside safety checks, seat belt enforcement zones and saturation patrols resulted in 62 traffic stops, Aurora police said.
AURORA, IL — The Aurora Police Department shared Monday the results of its St. Patrick's Day enforcement campaign, revealing officers wrote 73 citations and made 23 arrests.
From March 13-23, the Aurora Police Department joined Illinois State Police, the Illinois Department of Transportation and a plethora of local agencies to stop drivers impaired by alcohol, cannabis or other drugs.
Roadside safety checks, seat belt enforcement zones and saturation patrols resulted in 62 traffic stops and 73 citations. Forty-six tickets were for occupant restraint violations, while three were for distracted driving, one for speeding, and 23 for other violations, according to a news release. Officers also gave two warnings.

Twenty-three arrests were related to driving under the influence, and six were for suspended, revoked or no valid driver's licenses, police said.
"Thank you to everyone who made safe choices and planned ahead," officials wrote in the release. "Celebrations are always better when they end safely."
