Aurora Schools Place in State's Top 60: News Rankings 2016

U.S. News and World Report released the list this week.

Two Aurora schools made the top 60 Illinois high schools in the annual U.S. News and World Report Best High School ranking.

Metea Valley High School came in at 42nd, with Waubonsie Valley High School finishing 59th. Nationally, the schools placed at 1,040 and 1,427, respectively.

In Naperville, three schools made the list.

"The U.S. News rankings include data on more than 21,000 public high schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia," states U.S. News & World Report. "Schools were awarded gold, silver or bronze medals based on their performance on state assessments, their graduation rates and how well they prepare students for college."

The report includes information about curriculum, test scores and student demographics.

In the state, Northside College Preparatory High School came in first, The No. 1 high school in the U.S. rankings is the School for the Talented and Gifted in Dallas, Texas.
