Aurora Standoff Ends With Juvenile In Custody

Shots were fired in the 500 block of Lake Street and two juveniles ran off, police say.

AURORA, IL — A juvenile is in custody after what started with shots fired and ended in a standoff Sunday afternoon. The incident took place in the 500 and 600 blocks of Lake Street Sunday afternoon, according to a news release from Aurora Police Department spokesperson Paris Lewbel.

Police say they got to the scene of the reported shooting in the 600 block of Lake Street just before 5 p.m. and that two juvenile males "took off running." Officers began to pursue one of the suspects as he ran and shouted for him to stop.

The suspect went inside a home in the 500 block of Lake and officers used loudspeakers to ask for the suspect to get out of the home. A female came out of the house at first, Lewbel said.
