Aurora Teen Charged With Attempted Murder: Cops

Police say he fired "multiple shots" at a group of juveniles, striking a 17-year-old in the shoulder.

AURORA, IL — An 18-year-old Aurora man is facing attempted murder charges in connection with the shooting of a 17-year-old male on June 27. Skyler Garcia, 18, has been charged with attempted first degree murder, aggravated battery with a firearm, and possession of a firearm without a valid FOID card.

According to police, Garcia came up to a home in the 500 block of Gate St. and opened fire on a group of juveniles. Garcia is accused of firing several shots, one of which hit a 17-year-old in the shoulder.

Police say Garcia fled the scene, but was later taken into custody in Montgomery. He is currently being held on $2 million bail in the Kane County Jail.
