Aurora's Puerto Rican Heritage Week Kicks Off Saturday
The weeklong celebration begins with the raising of the Puerto Rican flag on July 20.

AURORA, IL — Aurora will kick off its annual Puerto Rican Heritage Week with a ceremonial raising of the Puerto Rican flag at City Hall on July 20. The week of festivities leads up to the city's 47th Annual Puerto Rican Heritage Parade and Festival on July 28.
Puerto Rican Flag-Raising Ceremony
Head to City Hall at 10 a.m. on July 20 to join Mayor Richard Irvin and the Aurora Puerto Rican Cultural Council as they mark the beginning of Puerto Rican Heritage Week with a "Raising of the Flag" ceremony.

Puerto Rican Heritage Parade and Festival
Downtown Aurora will be abuzz with colorful floats, live music, and more on July 28 for the city's 47th Annual Puerto Rican Heritage Parade and Festival. The parade is set to start at the corner of Benton and Broadway at 12 p.m.

After the parade, the Puerto Rican Festival will be held at 65 S. Water St. Kids can stay occupied with slides, games, and other activities from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Live music will keep grownups dancing throughout the day. The performance schedule is:
1:30 p.m.: Tony y Los Campesinos
2:30 p.m.: Impacto Boricua
3:30 p.m.: La Obra
4:30 p.m.: Mannix Martinez
5:45 p.m.: Chicago Latin Groove
7 p.m.: Jesus Enriquez
D.J. Rouge and D.J. Tito Latino will spin live music throughout the parade and fest.
General admission to the Puerto Rican Heritage Festival is free; guests who are of legal drinking age can pay $1 to get into the beer garden.
