Authorities Release ID Of Man Killed On Sherman In Aurora

AURORA, IL — Authorities have released the name of a man who was fatally shot on Sherman Avenue Friday. The victim was identified as John H. Smith, 20, of the 400 block of Sherman Avenue, according to a news release from Kane County Coroner Rob Russell.

Police were called to the scene just before midnight to find Smith had been shot in the chest. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Aurora Police Department and Kane County Coroner's Office are working together on the ongoing investigation into Smith's death.
