Beware Of Fake Treasurer Website, Kane County State's Attorney Says
Officials are warning users not to attempt to make payments via the website pretending to be the Kane County Treasurer.
KANE COUNTY, IL — Officials at the Kane County State's Attorney's Office are warning locals about a website pretending to be the Kane County Treasurer's site.
Officials urge users not to attempt to make a payment on the fake site, www.kanecountytreasure.org, which features several links for online payments, legal and court records, and vehicle registration renewals.
The real website is www.kanecountytreasurer.org. Users can verify it by noting Treasurer Christopher Lauzen pictured in the upper left corner, and the treasurer's office address and phone number in the upper right corner. Additionally, users must accept a terms of use agreement before searching for or making any payments.

The authentic site is secure, while the fake one is not, officials said.
Investigators at the Kane County Sheriff's Office are looking into the fake website and are asking anyone with information about it to call 630-444-1103.
