No Devices Found After Bomb Threat Reported Against 3 Libraries: APD

UPDATE: Aurora police said although the threat appears to have been a hoax, detectives continue to investigate the Tuesday incident.

AURORA, IL — A bomb threat reported Tuesday afternoon against Aurora libraries appears to have been a hoax, according to Aurora police.

As a precaution, officers evacuated all three libraries after they were dispatched around 2:41 p.m. to investigate and conduct a physical search at each location, police said in an update Tuesday evening. No devices were found, officials said.

Officials cleared all libraries before 6 p.m., allowing them to resume normal business hours and services. The Santori Public Library, at 101 S. River St., was officially cleared at 3:45 p.m.; the West Branch, at 233 S. Constitution Drive, at 4:10 p.m.; and the Eola Branch, at 555 S. Eola Road, at 5:37 p.m.

Bomb detection canines from the Kane County Sheriff's Office and Joliet Police Department also searched the buildings, and members of the Fox Valley Park District Police Department assisted with the evacuations.
