Boy, 13, Robs Mom, Son At Gunpoint In Shoe Sale Setup: Aurora PD
Police say the boy arranged to buy sneakers from the woman and then pulled a handgun, demanding her purse and cash.

AURORA, IL — A 13-year-old boy faces felony charges of armed robbery after he allegedly robbed a mother and son at gunpoint in Aurora on Aug. 13. Police say the boy used social media to arrange a meeting with the woman to buy sneakers from her. When they met, he allegedly pulled a gun on her and demanded her purse and cash in addition to the shoes.
According to police, the armed robbery took place at approximately 9:30 p.m. near the intersection of Randall Road and North Glen Circle. The boy allegedly drew the handgun, pointed it at the woman, and grabbed money from the victim's hands as she was reaching for change.
Police say the boy fled after the robbery and the woman screamed at a passing car for help.

Aurora Police say they had been familiar with the boy from other incidents and that they suspected he was involved when they heard the armed robbery reported. The suspect reportedly turned himself in the following day and is currently in custody at a youth home.
