Breastfeeding Moms Demand Respect At Fox Valley Mall Protest

The mom was breastfeeding her baby when she was reportedly told to "cover up or go to the bathroom."

AURORA, IL — Dozens of women gathered at Fox Valley Mall holding their protest signs with one arm and their infants with the other to rally for breastfeeding rights in a peaceful protest Saturday. The women came together to raise awareness about an incident in which a mother was asked not to nurse her child in public at the mall.

The incident took place Thursday as the mall was packed with customers trying to get their hands on the recent Build-A-Bear promotion. As one mother was nursing her child, she was reportedly told to "cover up or go to the bathroom."

The "silent protest" was organized by Yazmin Noceda, who said on the Facebook event page that she herself is a mom who breastfeeds. The protest's intention, she wrote was to " let [F]ox [V]alley mall know that our babies eat whenever they want, wherever they want!"
