AURORA, IL — Iconic classic rock band Styx is set to headline Aurora's RiverEdge Park July 11, the venue announced Monday.

Based out of Chicago, Styx formed in 1972 and soared to popularity in the '70s and '80s. The band is cited as being the first to obtain four consecutive platinum albums.

In July, concert-goers should expect the band to deliver a "powerhouse performance featuring some of the greatest rock anthems of all times" including "Renegade," "Come Sail Away" and "Mr. Roboto," organizers said.

The concert will take place about a month after Styx releases its 17th album, "Crash of the Crown," on June 18.

"Absolutely no obstacles were going to get in the way of how we approached creating this album," singer and guitarist Tommy Shaw said in a statement about the album, which was written pre-pandemic and recorded during the pandemic, "and everything came out exactly the way we wanted to hear it."

The rock band will take the stage at 8 p.m. at the downtown Aurora venue, 360 N. Broadway. Tickets to the performance will go live at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Admission costs $50, and a limited number of 50th Anniversary VIP Tour Packages — complete with one ticket, a "long list" of swag and 15-minute early access to the park — are selling for $179.

Tickets can be purchased online, at RiverEdge's satellite box office at Paramount Theatre, 23 E. Galena Blvd., or day-of at RiverEdge Park.

The event is set to take place rain or shine. Outside food, bag chairs and blankets are welcome, and concessions — including drinks and bites to eat from local food trucks — will be for sale during the show.
