Commercial Building In Aurora Deemed Uninhabitable After Blaze: FD
A total of 43 firefighters responded to the Galena Boulevard building after dispatch received multiple calls about smoke showing.
AURORA, IL — A commercial building on Galena Boulevard was deemed uninhabitable after a fire broke out on the first floor just before 6 a.m. July 7, officials said.
A total of 43 firefighters responded to the building in the 1000 block of East Galena Boulevard after emergency dispatch received multiple 911 calls reporting smoke showing. On the scene, crews found heavy smoke showing from the one-story structure, which is attached to a mercantile store and a tent and awning rental company.
Truck Company crews forced entry into the building, while Engine Company firefighters deployed multiple hose lines to enter two sides of the building, where they encountered conditions of high heat and low visibility, officials said.

Firefighters worked for an hour before they were able to bring the fire under control. Crews remained at the building for another hour and a half to overhaul and extinguish hotspots.
The tent and awning rental company also sustained smoke damage, according to a news release.

No employees were on the premise when the fire occurred, officials said. No civilians or firefighters were injured, officials said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
