Dog, Cats Saved From House Fire In Aurora
The fire broke out in a home in the 1000 block of N. Elmwood.

AURORA, IL — A local family can thank the Aurora fire department for saving their pets from a fire that broke out in their home's attached garage Sunday. Firefighters were able to save two cats and a dog from the fire, which left a two-story home in the 1000 block of N. Elmwood uninhabitable.
Fire officials say they got a call around 10 p.m. reporting a fire had started in the attached garage of the home. The residents were able to get out of the house and firefighters were able to keep the flames contained to the garage, Battalion Chief Jim Rhodes said in a press release.
The fire is estimated to have caused roughly $50,000 in damages. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, Rhodes wrote.
