Driver, 27, Killed In I-88 Crash Involving Semi Near Aurora: ISP

The Chicago woman was driving west on I-88 near Mitchell Road when her car rear-ended a semi at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, officials said.

AURORA, IL — A woman was killed early Wednesday morning in a crash involving a semi-truck on I-88 near Aurora, according to Illinois State Police.

Troopers responded to milepost 118 near Mitchell Road around 3:30 a.m. The crash involved a 2018 Chevrolet Malibu and a 2005 Peterbilt Truck Tractor.

The driver of the sedan, a 27-year-old woman from Chicago, was traveling west on I-88 when she rear-ended the semi, according to a preliminary investigation. She was taken to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead, officials said.

The truck driver, a 37-year-old man from West Chicago, was not injured.

Police did not identify the woman pending next-of-kin notification.

Two lanes of westbound I-88 near the scene of the crash were closed for investigation as of 10 a.m., an Illinois State Police spokesperson told Patch.
