From September to December, photography students all over Kane County submitted their photo projects into the Kane County Student Photography Contest. A joint effort between the Kane County Regional Office of Education, Kane Excellence in Education Partnership, and Kane County Connects, the 10-week contest saw East Aurora High School students place in the top 10 over the course of the competition.

Each week, the top 10 photos were featured in an online article published by Kane County connects, honoring the creativity of each winner—and the guidance and support of their art department instructors.

Between 100 and 300 Kane County students submitted photos each week from 14 different school districts, making the distinction for top 10 selection competitive.

This year, East Aurora Tomcats flexed their creative muscles in a range of themed entries, including Portrait, Perspective, and Artist’s Choice photos.

In 2020, the ROE Student Photography Contest held a virtual reception to honor each weekly group of winners. This year, however, an in-person exhibition was held at the Batavia Fine Arts Centre on December 8th, allowing all honored students the chance to showcase their work and attend an awards ceremony.

District 131 would like to congratulate all East Aurora High School students who entered the competition as well as East High photography instructor Rhonda Kinstner for supporting and encouraging her students. Tomcats–your originality, imagination, and willingness to share your art is inspiring!
