Phillips Park Zoo in Aurora welcomes its first two wallabies (chicagotribune.com) — Aurora's Phillips Park Zoo just welcomed its first-ever wallabies, Wally and Bindi, who arrived earlier this month and will live there permanently. The Bennett's wallaby pair is settling into an exhibit between Tito the lynx and the barnyard, with the option to be on or off display as they adjust. You can visit them Thursdays through Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Ray Moses Drive.

How One Teacher Ran The Entire Mississippi River (q985online.com) — An Aurora teacher and Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy educator just ran the entire 2,139-mile length of the Mississippi River, averaging about 41 miles a day. He used the feat to raise more than $12,000 for childhood cancer research benefiting St. Jude, inspired in part by his niece's cancer diagnosis and his own childhood health challenges.
