FEMA Offers Praise For Response To Henry Pratt Shooting: Report
Aurora was commended for its training and quick response, but FEMA also noted ways the city could have responded more efficiently.

AURORA, IL — In the months following the deadly shooting at Henry Pratt Manufacturing in Aurora, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) issued a report commending the city's response to the crisis, while also pointing out ways their response could have been more efficient. The report, issued by FEMA in May, states that Aurora first responders helped prevent the loss of more lives than those five lost in the shooting, Chicago Tribune reports.
FEMA praised the city's swift response, but noted that the massive response to the shooting, which involved more than 40 agencies, made for some logistical challenges. One issue, FEMA noted, was that injured police officers were taken to local hospitals without clear communication of who was going where.
Communication seemed to be an overarching issue that FEMA thinks the Aurora emergency responders can improve. Specifically, Aurora's dispatch system was not accessible by Naperville, which Aurora is working to correct, according to Chicago Tribune.
