Fire Leaves Aurora Family Without Home, Causes $55K In Damage

A dozen firefighters quickly put out the flames, but the home was declared to be uninhabitable, according to fire officials.

AURORA, IL — A fire Thursday evening on Aurora’s west side caused more than $50,000 in damage as it tore through a family’s two-story home, according to fire officials.

A person driving in the 200 block of Prairie Street reported the fire at 6:18 p.m. Thursday, officials said. A dozen firefighters quickly put out the flames, but the home was declared to be uninhabitable due to about $55,000 worth of damage, fire officials said.

Three people who lived in the home were assisted with temporary housing. No one was injured in the fire, which is still under investigation, according to officials.
