AURORA, IL — Several Aurora residents were displaced from their homes after a fire broke out in a duplex in the 900 block of Bishop Avenue Saturday afternoon. Police say three adults, two children, ages 2 and 5, and an 11-month old safely escaped the blaze before calling 911.

According to a press release from Aurora Fire Department Battalion Chief Jim Rhodes, more than two dozen firefighters responded to the blaze. Firefighters were able to bring the flames under control within 15 minutes, but both units in the duplex were found to be uninhabitable.

No one was injured in the blaze, Rhodes said. The city's victim services unit helped the families find temporary housing.
