4 Hospitalized After High-Speed Crash In Aurora: Cops

The crash left two people in extremely critical condition, one in critical condition, and another in serious condition.

AURORA, IL — Four people were hospitalized —with two in extremely critical condition— after a theft suspect was involved in a high-speed crash late Thursday. The crash took place near the intersection of Sullivan Road and Aurora Avenue around 10:30 p.m., according to a press release from Aurora Police Department spokesperson Paris Lewbel.

Lewbel said police were called to the Walmart in the 2900 block of Kirk Road around 10:20 a.m. for a report of a theft in progress. While they were en route, officers spotted a car that matched the description of the suspect's vehicle and began pursuing it.

The officers in pursuit reportedly lost sight of the car, but were notified shortly after that it had hit a car occupied by three people.

Two of the crash victims were airlifted from the scene in extremely critical condition and a third was in serious condition. The crash left the suspect in critical condition, police say.

The crash closed the intersection of Aurora Avenue and Sullivan Road into Friday morning as police and the Kane County Major Crimes Task Force worked to reconstruct the crash.
