Free Meals Available To Students This Summer Thanks To District 131

East Aurora School District 131 is offering free summer meals including breakfast and lunch for students 18 years and under.

AURORA, IL — Students 18 years and younger have access to free meals this summer courtesy of East Aurora School District 131.

Breakfast and lunch will be served at various schools throughout the district Monday through Thursday beginning June 12 to July 6.

No meals will be provided June 19 or July 4 due to the respective Juneteenth and Fourth of July holidays.

Meals must be eaten in the school when they're picked up and cannot be taken home, officials said.

Here's a look at the pickup schedule, which varies by grade level:

Preschool and elementary students (Preschool through 5th grade)

  • Gates Elementary School, 800 Seventh Ave.
    • Breakfast: 8-8:30 a.m.
    • Lunch: 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • Hermes Elementary School, 1000 Jungels Ave.
    • Breakfast: 8-8:30 a.m.
    • Lunch: 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Middle school students (Grades 6-8)

  • Cowherd Middle School, 441 N. Farnsworth Ave.
    • Breakfast: 8:30-9 a.m.
    • Lunch: Noon to 1 p.m.

High school students (grades 9-12)

  • Simmons Middle School, 1130 Sheffer Road
    • Breakfast: 7:30-8 a.m.
    • Lunch: 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

District 131 isn't the only organization providing free meals to youth this summer. Northern Illinois Food Bank returns with its Meals on the Move program from June 5 to Aug. 11.
