Fundraiser Started For Family Of 4 Displaced By 'Terrifying' Home Fire

AURORA, IL — A GoFundMe has been started to help an Aurora family of four that lost their house in a fire Tuesday.

Firefighters were dispatched around 8:35 p.m. to the two-story house in the 1600 block of Cumberland Road after receiving a call from a resident, still inside, reporting the fire. Crews found smoke and flames showing from the garage upon arrival, according to a news release.

A total of 24 firefighters responded and were able to bring the fire under control within 15 minutes, but "everything [the family] worked so hard for in order to make their house a home has been destroyed," the campaign reads.

The residents — two adults with their two young boys and two dogs — "are staying with family, but literally walked away with nothing except their cars, beating hearts and the clothes on their backs."

The campaign is more than halfway to reaching its $5,000 goal, as of Friday afternoon. The fundraiser aims to help the family begin to rebuild.
