Gun Found After Police Chase In Aurora: Cops

Police say ran a red light, drove at 100 mph, and then fled on foot.

AURORA, IL — An Aurora man is in custody after he allegedly fled police at more than 100 mph in a police chase that led cops to find a gun. Adrien L. Betsinger, 21, of the 500 block of Woodlawn Ave., was charged with aggravated fleeing and eluding, driving on a revoked license, and violating his parole in connection with the June 29 incident.

Police say Betsinger was seen driving a 2000 Chevy Monte Carlo through a red light near the intersection of Galena and Smith around 10:30 p.m. Betsinger allegedly increased his speed when an officer tried to pull him over and the officer lost him.

The car was later found partially on a curb at Galena and Lincoln by another police officer. Betsinger had allegedly crashed the car before fleeing on foot.

Police found Betsinger in a yard in the first block of Lincoln and took him into custody. An alleged second passenger was not located and a third was released after waiting in the car, police say.

While conducting a search of the crash area, police say they found a .40-caliber semi-automatic pistol not far from where they arrested Betsinger.

Police are processing the gun as part of the ongoing investigation.
