Literacy Volunteers Fox Valley will host a free tutor training workshop from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, April 10, 12, 17, and 19 at the St. Charles Public Library.

Volunteers do not need a teaching background or a second language to be effective. The workshop provides material and instruction so anyone can help. Learners say that the best volunteers are patient, listen, and give practical information.

Each volunteer who completes the workshop will be matched with one adult learner. Literacy volunteers teach for one hour each week at a time and public location that is convenient.

Volunteers say that one of the most satisfying things about being a literacy volunteer is that they get to see the direct results of their volunteer efforts. From week to week, volunteers see their learners get more comfortable and fluent in English, which makes a big difference in their lives.

To register for the workshop, visit www.lvfv.org or call/text 630-584-4428.
