Police Identify Man Killed In Aurora Hit & Run

A gray minivan struck the victim and drove off, police said.

AURORA, IL — Aurora police are asking for help identifying the driver of a gray minivan that fatally hit a homeless man as he crossed the street Wednesday on the city's near east side. Police said Danny Anderson, 46, was crossing Broadway Avenue (Route 25) in the crosswalk at Hazel Avenue around 6:40 p.m. with another Aurora man, 32, prior to the crash.

As the two men crossed the street, the 32-year-old saw an older gray minivan heading south on Broadway and stopped in the crosswalk as he yelled to Anderson to stop. Instead, the victim ran westbound in front of the minivan and was hit, police said.

The driver of the minivan stopped for a few seconds but then fled, heading south, according to police.
