Kane Co. Coronavirus Cases Remain At 2-Month Lows As IL Reopens
The average number of daily confirmed cases in Kane County has been under 50 for almost two weeks, according to public health data.

KANE COUNTY, IL — Public health data shows there were no large spikes in coronavirus cases in Kane County as Illinois went through phase 3 of its reopening plan.
Since May 29, when the state entered phase 3 — allowing most businesses to reopen and for bars and restaurants to reopen with outdoor seating — the average number of daily confirmed cases has dropped by more than 65 percent.

The 7-day rolling average of daily cases — a measure that takes into account daily fluctuations in testing to show longer-term trends — dropped from 122 on May 29 to 40 on Friday, according to data from the Illinois Department of Public Health.

Illinois entered phase 4 of its reopening plan Friday, with groups of up to 50 people allowed to gather for any reason and restaurants, bars, and other businesses able to welcome customer back inside with restrictions. Many public spaces have also reopened with social distancing and other safety measures in place.
The state’s data shows 164 people have tested positive for the coronavirus since Monday, bringing the county’s total to 7,638 cases, as of Friday.
Aurora residents account for about 44 percent of all coronavirus cases in the county, with 3,359, the data shows. More than 350 residents in Aurora's other three counties — DuPage, Kendall and Will — have also tested positive for the coronavirus, according to the city's statistics.

More than 1,800 Elgin residents have tested positive, as well as 745 in Carpentersville, 306 in St. Charles, 204 in North Aurora, 176 in Geneva and 117 in Batavia, according to the state’s data.
As of Friday, 262 Kane County residents have died after testing positive for the virus, including 149 residents of long-term-care facilities, the data shows. Though they represent 11.7 percent of all coronavirus cases in Kane County, residents of long-term-care facilities account for about 57 percent of all deaths.
