Khouri Wins GOP 11th Congressional District Nomination

Khouri will face off against incumbent Bill Foster in the November general election.

Tonia Khouri has won the GOP nomination for the 11th Congressional District.

It was a tight race for Khouri, with her main opponent, Nick Stella, just a few hundred votes behind.

As of 8:20 a.m. Wednesday morning, Khouri has 37 percent of the vote while Stella has 36.3. The other Republican candidate, Herman White, came in with 26.7 percent.

Khouri, an Aurora resident, and incumbent Democrat Bill Foster will now face off in the November general election.

District 11 covers parts of Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall and Will Counties, including all or part of Aurora, Montgomery, Naperville, Woodridge, Darien, Bolingbrook, Plainfield, Romeoville, Shorewood, Joliet and New Lenox, according to the Illinois Board of Elections.

Khouri serves as the Chairman of Economic Development on the DuPage County Board and “continues to fight for Illinois taxpayers and their best interest at every opportunity,” according to her website.

Khouri’s three main focuses are quality of education, safety of communities and the opportunity for work and job growth within the 11th district, according to her website.

Foster won his seat for the 11th congressional district in 2012. Foster is for creating jobs, reforming Wall Street and access to health care, among other issues.
