Linda Chapa LaVia Unveils Plan to Improve Accountability and Trust in Government
Chapa LaVia is the only candidate for Mayor of Aurora who has a plan to address accountability and transparency in city government
Aurora, IL - Today State Representative and candidate for mayor of Aurora Linda Chapa La Via unveiled a policy initiative intended to increase accountability and public trust in government in Illinois’s second largest city.
“We live in a time when distrust of government is at an all time high,” said Chapa La Via. “I’d like to see Aurora lead the way for the rest of the state when it comes to creating a culture of accountability, transparency, and trust. We shouldn’t wait for a public scandal to come down the road before we take some common sense measures that put us at the leading edge on these issues. That’s my vision for our city.”

- Developing an “Ethics Act” code of conduct
- Creating greater transparency in city processes, including procurement and bidding processes
- Creating greater transparency and accountability with Boards and Commissions
- Developing of performance measurements
