Literacy Volunteers Fox Valley will host a free tutor training workshop from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, February 6, 8, 13, and 15 at the St. Charles Public Library.

Trained volunteers will be matched with adult learners who want to communicate in English, so they can be better workers, more effective parents, and involved community members.

Workshop participants will learn about the local effort, the standardized testing methods that help a volunteer tutor know where to start, and teaching techniques that tutors use during lessons.

Volunteers do not have to have a background in education or know a second language to participate. The workshop provides material and instruction so anyone can help.
