Mail For Veterans: Deadline Nears For Aurora's Gifts From Home Project

Active military personnel from Aurora can register themselves on the city's website in order to receive a gift honoring their service.

AURORA, IL — Each year, the City of Aurora organizes sending mail to Aurorans on active military duty, and the deadline to participate is quickly approaching.

Gifts from Home honors military personnel from Aurora by providing them with a holiday package, which includes a gift card to use for online purchases, an Aurora memento and a personalized letter.

"As a young soldier, receiving mail from home was heartwarming," said Mayor Richard Irvin, a veteran of the U.S. Army who served in Desert Shield and Desert Storm, said in a statement. "Something like this from my hometown would have inspired me to work even harder."
