Man, 26, Charged For Having Child Porn On Devices, Grooming Child: Aurora Police

Investigators also discovered child sexual abuse material on the 26-year-old's phone, officials said.

AURORA, IL — A 26-year-old Aurora man is facing multiple felony charges after police said he attempted to solicit sexual activities from a child.

Aurora police interviewed Michael Orozco, of the 400 block of South Union Street, on Jan. 6 about him talking to a person he believed was 13 years old. Officials said Orozco told them he discussed having the child engage in a sex act.

Investigators also searched Orozco's devices and found him to be in possession of child sexual abuse material, according to a news release.

Orozco was taken into custody March 4 on an arrest warrant issued the same day. He was charged with four counts of possession of child sexual assault material, with victim under 13; four counts of CSAM, with victim under 18; one count of indecent solicitation of a minor, and one count of grooming, police said.

"This investigation represents some of the most important work our detectives do," Police Chief Matt Thomas said in a statement. "Protecting children from exploitation — whether online or in our community — is a responsibility we take very seriously. These cases often involve complex digital investigations that require specialized expertise and close coordination with prosecutors. Through our participation in the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, our investigators work with partner agencies to share resources, leverage specialized tools, and identify offenders who seek to exploit children."

Orozco remains in custody at the Kane County jail, with his next court date set for April 10.

The case remains open, and police asked anyone with information to call the investigations division at 630-256-5500.
