Man Arrested, Charged With Trespassing At Granger Middle School

The Aurora school was placed under temporary lockdown while police investigated the incident Wednesday morning.

AURORA, IL — A 20-year-old man found trespassing on Granger Middle School grounds was arrested and charged Wednesday morning, police said.

The campus was put under lockdown while officers investigated the incident.

Officers were called to the school, located at 2721 Stonebridge Blvd., at about 8 a.m. for a report of a "suspicious person" trespassing on school grounds. When police arrived, they learned staff confronted the man, identified as Brandt Ward, at one of the school's entry points.

Officers secured Ward, of the 1200 block of Townes Circle, and charged him with disorderly conduct and criminal trespass to a safe school zone.

He was unarmed at the time of his arrest, and no weapons were found or alluded to during the incident, police said. No injuries were reported.

Police said there is no danger to students, staff or the school.
