Man, Dogs, Escape Devastating House Fire In Aurora: Report
The fire caused $125,000 in damage to the two-story home.

AURORA, IL --- A man and his dogs were able to escape a house fire that left a home in Aurora uninhabitable Saturday morning. Officials say a fire broke out in a two-story home in the 2300 block of Lakeshore Court around 8:43 a.m.
According to a press release from Aurora Fire Department, the victim first noticed flames coming from beneath his basement stairs. He then reportedly tried to extinguish the fire on his own, but was unable to put it out.
The victim then got out of the home safely with his dogs and alerted the fire department. Fire officials say the homeowner inadvertently left the back door and garage door to the home ajar, which caused the blaze to rapidly spread throughout the residence.
