Man Stole $445K From Aurora Business, Authorities Say

"Financial crimes are not victimless crimes," Kane County State's Attorney Joe McMahon said.

AURORA, IL -- A man from Newark has been charged with stealing close to half a million dollars from a business in Aurora. Authorities say a jury found Darrell E. Willis, 36, guilty Wednesday of stealing $445,000 from an Aurora business in 2016.

A press release from Kane County State's Attorney's Office did not identify the business Willis was convicted of stealing from.

"Financial crimes have a ripple effect in the community and can cause real economic hardships, particularly to small businesses," Kane County State's Attorney Joe McMahon said in a statement. He stressed that his office is dedicated to combating white collar crimes, adding that "Financial crimes are not victimless crimes."
