Ohio Street Bridge in Aurora Reopens
A new protected pedestrian bridge on the west side of the bridge is also now open.

The Ohio Street Bridge reopened Thursday following a multi-year project to replace the oldest bridge in the city of Aurora with a safer, more sound bridge that meets higher safety standards, according to city officials.
Aurora Mayor Robert J. O'Connor, First Ward Alderman Tina Bohman, Seventh Ward Alderman Scheketa Hart-Burns and Alderman-at-Large Richard C. Irvin were joined by local residents, project engineers, construction crew members and city officials as they cut the ribbon to reopen the major thoroughfare, according to a post on the city of Aurora Facebook page.
Preliminary work on the bridge began in fall 2014 and the bridge has been closed since March 2015 for complete reconstruction.
