Overnight Warming Center Opens On New Year's Eve In Aurora
Aurora will activate its temporary overnight warming center Tuesday night and again on Thursday night.
AURORA, IL — Wesley United Methodist Church will serve as Aurora's overnight warming center starting on New Year's Eve, officials said.
The church, located at 14 N. May St., will be open from 8 p.m. Tuesday until 8 a.m. Wednesday and again during the same timeframe from Thursday into Friday.
Each evening, staff will provide guests with a cot, snacks and water. Security will also be on-site at all times.

Guests should use the entrance located through the courtyard that faces New York Street. The door can be seen under a ramp.
The city activates its temporary overnight warming center based on temperature thresholds. On Tuesday, wind chills between 15 and 25 degrees are expected between 10 p.m. and midnight, Patch reported.

New Year's Day will see a high between 27 and 31 degrees, and temperatures will continue to drop for a high between 26-32 degrees Thursday and 21-25 degrees Friday. Friday night could see a low of 8 degrees, the NWS forecast shows.
