Park Avenue House Destroyed In Fire That Sent 1 To Hospital: Aurora FD
A 61-year-old man was hospitalized in good condition for minor smoke inhalation Friday morning.
AURORA, IL — A one-story, single-family house in the 500 block of North Park Avenue was destroyed in a fire Friday morning, according to officials at the Aurora Fire Department.
A total of 28 firefighters responded to the house after Central Station received multiple 911 calls about a blaze starting in the house's attached garage. When crews arrived, they found heavy fire showing from the garage and two cars parked in the driveway.
A medic was ordered to enter the house and search for victims, finding in the yard a 67-year-old woman, a 61-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman who all safely exited. Victim Services were called to assist the residents.

The man was treated for minor smoke inhalation and later hospitalized in good condition, officials said.
The first Engine Company to arrive used their deck gun to knock down the garage fire before advancing a hose line through the front door. The first arriving Truck Company ventilated the house and searched for fire extensions.

The second Engine Company to arrive secured a water supply and, along with the next arriving Truck Company, deployed additional hose lines to attack the fire, according to a news release.
The garage roof collapsed 8 minutes after firefighters arrived, prompting all companies to be commanded to evacuate the building. All crews safely exited and continued fighting the fire with additional assistance from arriving units.
Firefighters remained on the scene for more than an hour to extinguish hot spots, officials said.
Authorities noted there were working smoke detectors at the time but continue to investigate the cause of the fire.
