Pedestrian Hit by Freight Train Causes Metra Stop in Naperville
The train is now running, but some residual delays may occur.

A Metra train in Naperville heading to Aurora has been stopped due to a freight train striking a pedestrian between the Route 59 station and the Aurora train station, according to a Metra spokesperson.
The Metra train has since resumed operations, but some residual delays may occur. Check the Metra website for more information.

According to the DuPage County Sheriff's Office, deputies and detectives are investigating the incident that occurred at around 2:10 p.m. at Old Eola Rd. and the tracks in unincorporated Eola. However, a Metra spokesperson said it happened at around 1:30 p.m.
Director of Public Affairs for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway Andy Williams told the Chicago Tribune the freight train was empty at the time and was headed for Galesburg when the incident occurred.

According to Williams, a trespasser stepped onto the tracks and was struck by the train.
The victim was apparently still alive after being hit and walking, according to the report.
