REO Speedwagon returned to their home state of Illinois for a sold-out show at RiverEdge Park in Aurora on Saturday night.
The band, formed in 1967 in Champaign, IL, typically comes to the Chicagoland area at least twice a year.
Despite originating pretty far south of the city, REO Speedwagon still has close ties to the immediate Chicago area. The group's frontman, Kevin Cronin, grew up in Oak Lawn.

Cronin mentioned his upbringing in Oak Lawn after only a few songs into Saturday's show, then went on to say how special hometown shows are for him.
Classic rock fans in attendance for the Labor Day weekend performance were graced with clear skies and comfortable temperatures for an energetic 16-song setlist.

Although REO Speedwagon doesn't have any more local shows on their schedule at the moment, it should only be a matter of time before they're back on the road again in the Chicago area.
