Fourth of July weekend might be months out, but the date, location and DJ are already set for the popular fireworks extravaganza.

AURORA, IL — Fourth of July weekend might still be in the distance future, but plans for the community-loved fireworks show have been announced Friday.

The Fourth of July fireworks show in Aurora is set to take place July 3, organizers at RiverEdge Park, the venue for the event, said.

Live music will begin performing when the gates at RiverEdge Park, 360 N. Broadway, open at 6 p.m. and will continue until 9 p.m. The light show is scheduled to begin at 9:15 p.m.

DJ Suave Smooth has been tapped to provide the music for the free event.

Ahead of the fireworks extravaganza, organizers will fly a large red balloon from Veterans Island, where the fireworks will be shot off. Officials recommend that when choosing a place to sit, viewers should make sure they can see the red balloon — if the balloon is visible, so are the fireworks.

Food trucks and vendors will be set up for the event at Wilder Park. No bars will be open and no alcohol will be allowed into the park, but participants can bring their own food and drinks.

Free parking will be available in a few spots: at the Aurora Transportation Center and train station parking lot across Route 25 from RiverEdge Park and in Lot W at 309 North River Street. The latter lot is within steps from Wilder Park.
