Police Investigate Shooting on Route 30 in Unincorporated Aurora
Authorities are searching for the suspect who opened fire on a vehicle while traveling west on Route 30 early Saturday.

AURORA, IL - The Kane County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate a shooting that took place on Route 30 near Aurora early Saturday.
An 18-year-old man was taken to the hospital after a shooter opened fire on the vehicle he was traveling in while both vehicles were westbound on Route 30 in unincorporated Aurora at about 2:55 a.m. Saturday, according to a sheriff’s office press release.
An initial investigation revealed the vehicle that was shot at was traveling south on Route 31 with four males inside. At some point, the occupants noticed a vehicle following them. The victim’s vehicle turned onto Route 30 and was heading west when a subject from the other vehicle began to shoot at the victim’s vehicle, according to the news release.

The 18-year-old passenger, who was in the back seat, was struck several times, police said. The victim’s vehicle fled the area and drove to a home in Montgomery.
The victim was transported to Copley hospital and eventually flown to Loyola Hospital in Chicago. His wounds do not appear to be life-threatening, police said. The other three occupants in the victim vehicle were uninjured.

Police are continuing to search for the suspect, or suspects, in the shooting incident, Kane County Sheriff’s Office public information officer Patrick Gengler said in an email Tuesday. Authorities have not ruled out the possibility that the shooting was gang-related.
